Solid or engineered: which to choose?
Solid is one block of wood and can be sanded almost indefinitely; engineered, more stable, is the choice for wide planks and underfloor heating. At equal budget, engineered often offers an identical wear surface.
Does solid wood work over underfloor heating?
Generally not recommended: one-piece wood moves more with heating cycles. Over heated floors, prefer fully glued engineered boards.
How long does a solid floor last?
Generations: with 3 to 4 possible sandings and simple care, a quality solid floor routinely passes fifty years.
