From a distance all plasterboards look alike — up close, each has a precise job. Picking the wrong one means a crumbling wall in a wet room or a partition that lets every sound through. The two-minute summary.
The selection table
| Board | Recognisable by | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 12.5 mm | Grey liner | Partitions and ceilings in dry rooms |
| Moisture-resistant | Green liner | Bathroom, kitchen, WC — mandatory in wet rooms |
| Acoustic | Blue liner, high-density core | +3 dB over standard: bedrooms, party walls |
| High-impact | Reinforced yellow or white liner | Hallways, garages, heavy loads (up to 60 kg/point) |
| Fire-rated | Pink liner | Boiler rooms, attached garages, ducts |
| 18 / 25 mm boards | 18 or 25 mm thick | Tall walls, higher acoustic or fire requirements |

The 3 reflexes
- Wet room = moisture-resistant minimum, ceiling included.
- Party wall or child's bedroom = acoustic board, it costs 2 € more per m².
- The 900 mm wide format exists: easier to handle up a narrow staircase.
Full installation is in our guide to building a plasterboard partition, and finishing in joint tape.
